Ouchy (Senior Capstone DePaul University 2016)

Meet Ouchy. After doing some research about cactuses, I've learned that thornless cactus do exist such as the Opuntia Ellisia cactus. Based on online images I found of this plant, I've designed 3 versions of Ouchy. My class liked the left design of him.

Meet Blister and he is one of main bullies that will be picking on Ouchy throughout the film. Between the two character design I had of him, my class recommended proceeding with Blister's design on the left.

This is Slickly, he is also a bully towards Ouchy and friends with Blister. I had three different versions of character design for Slickly. My class liked the middle design, their thoughts were that the middle design looked scarier than the other two.

This image and the next two concept artworks you are going to see next will be explaining the gist of the film in a series of 3 images. This image shows Blister and Slickly bullying sweet Ouchy.

Ouchy was alone and in pain. In his reflection, he only saw the ugly: no thorns. He also noticed something new about him too, he's blooming flowers on his hand! He did not like this new change one bit, but the bees found this new change attractive.

The bullies came back to bully Ouchy once more, but this time Ouchy was not alone. He now has a group of bee friends that will be his "thorns" and they will protect him from any harm coming at his way.
