Walk the Plank Illustrations

In this portfolio, you will see some of my original concept paintings from my animation short film “Walk the Plank”, which is a story of how a single cootie catcher captured a sailor’s dream of becoming captain. These concept artworks are few potential scene I might include for the sequel to this story idea.

The story idea came about when I was thinking about my childhood and remembered about making cootie catchers. I used to believe that cootie catchers are capable of bringing your wishes come true, so I decided to bring this idea to life through animation.

Doodly is the main character of this series. Used to be a sailor, but he achieves his dream of becoming captain by overthrowing Captain Seaweed off his ship through the luck of the cootie catcher. He's not too bright, but has great luck.

Here is Captain Seaweed. He used to own his own ship before Doodly took over. He's not too kind in nature and can get pretty sea salty if things don't go his way...

Oh and did I mention how much Captain Seaweed LOVES his hair? His long hair is his pride and joy~

Here are the two Bandits that will be teaming up with Captain Seaweed in retrieving his ship from Doodly. They like riches and a ahem... mermaids.

Here is my first ever concept art for the series "Walk the Plank". Notice how Doodly and the octopus looks pretty much the same, but Captain Seaweed... what happened to you??? He used to be much tinier than his current design.

New concept look!
Captain Seaweed (now an ex-captain) loses his position as captain, his ship and his hat. Doodly obtains his dream of becoming captain. The Octopus... well he's still an octopus.

The Ship-less ex-captain was then discovered by two bandits who were looking for treasure and a well... mermaids too. The captain's long hair had made them mistakenly think he's a mermaid!

Captain Seaweed and the bandits negotiates: Seaweed promises riches for the Bandits if they are successful in retrieving his ship, so they team up and pursues Doodly. Dangers awaits of course.

It's definitely clear now that Captain Seaweed despises Doodly
